Michael Olufemi Olarinde is a seasoned expert in tax policy and administration, with a diverse professional background. He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Banking & Finance from the University of Calabar in Nigeria and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Financial Management from the National Open University of Nigeria. He is also a Chartered Accountant, a Chartered Tax Associate, and a Chartered Human Resources Professional, with over nineteen (19) years of extensive cognate experience in tax policy and advisory practice. Michael specializes in tax policy, legislation, and research. He has earned recognition for his tax expertise across multiple national and international platforms.
Michael currently serves as the Head of the Fiscal & Tax Reforms Implementation Division at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigeria. He also acts as the Special Advisor on Tax Policy to the Executive Chairman of the FIRS. He is the Nigerian Country Correspondent to the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA) and a member of the United Nations (UN) Sub-Committee on Health Taxes. He further serves as a member of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Implementation Committee of Nigeria. Michael is also a member of the Tax Administration Committee of the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) and the Dean of the Tax Policy and Administration Faculty of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), among various other local and international roles.
Michael is an alumnus of the Commonwealth Senior Leadership Program and the University of Oxford, Blavatnik School of Government, Public Leadership Program. He is also a multiple awardee of excellent service in both private and public service, and an international public speaker who has delivered papers in over twenty (20) tax conferences globally.
