Habibat Onasanya
Deputy Director of Programs at Emmanuel Onyeabor Tax Initiative (EOTI)

Habibat Onasanya is an emerging tax professional and Program Manager II at Emmanuel Onyeabor Tax Initiative (EOTI), where she provides program management support to the EOTI Executive Council in the discharge of its administrative duties. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Lagos State University in Nigeria (LASU), where she served as the President of the LASU Tax Club. She also served as the Director of Research of the LASU Tax Club and the Head of Research of Lord Denning Chambers, LASU Law Students’ Bar Association. Following her keen interest in tax law and policy practice, Habibat recently served as a Research Assistant and Analyst for the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, where she made valuable contributions to Nigeria’s recent Tax Reforms Bills aimed at enhancing fiscal governance, simplification of the tax system, and driving economic growth in the country.
Her academic and extracurricular experiences fueled her passion for taxation, including its relationship with sustainable development goals and how it shapes public policy formulation. She is also deeply committed to exploring how legal frameworks can be strategically employed to facilitate the transition to green energy, with a view to promoting environmental sustainability and economic development.
In addition to her academic and professional pursuits, Habibat is passionate about child welfare and racial diversity. She volunteers with the Aviv Community, a society focused on the protection and development of children for a better world. She also volunteers with Acquaint, an online platform promoting cross-cultural communication and understanding among individuals from diverse racial backgrounds.
