Divine Chika Akachukwu

Divine Chika Akachukwu is a highly motivated 300 level law student at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, with a strong passion for taxation and finance. She is particularly interested in tax policymaking and reform, general corporate tax, real estate tax, and tax deal advisory. She is also passionate about using the law as a tool to drive economic development and promote fiscal responsibility in both corporate and governmental structures. Divine benefits from various practical exposures to legal and tax practice, including internship stints at leading Nigerian institutions like Hilton Top Solicitors, OBLP, and Legal Specs & Harlem Telecoms Academy, where she gained valuable exposure to the practical intricacies of taxation, legal technology, data privacy, telecommunications law, regulatory compliance, and cybersecurity.
Beyond her academic pursuits in school, Divine remarkable leadership, organizational, and people management skills. She has served in various student leadership capacities, including service as the Welfare Secretary of the Christian Law Students’ Fellowship and as the Assistant General Secretary of the Law Literary and Debate Society. She has also represented Jamaica at the United Nations (UN) Commission on Science and Technology for Development (UNCSTD) in a Model UN conference, advocating for Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven development policies. Divine is deeply committed to continuous learning and development. She views her tax internship program at Emmanuel Onyeabor Tax Initiative (EOTI) as a valuable opportunity to deepen her knowledge in tax policymaking and reform, general corporate tax, real estate tax, and tax deal advisory. She hopes to contribute meaningfully to these fields of taxation in the future.
