Chisom Nwatu is an emerging tax professional and an Associate at ALN Nigeria | Aluko & Oyebode – one of the largest integrated law firms in Nigeria providing a comprehensive range of specialist legal services to a highly diversified clientele including top-tier Nigerian, international, and multinational clients. Chisom is an exceptional individual, embodying excellence, commitment, consistency, discipline, and hard work in both her professional and academic pursuits. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with First Class Honours from the University of Nigeria (UNN), where she earned the distinction of being the Best Graduating Student (BGS) in the UNN Faculty of Law – achieving the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in the history of the faculty. This remarkable achievement earned her numerous accolades, including the Omaplex Law School Scholarship Award, the UNN Faculty of Law Alumni Scholarship Award, and the Bankole Olumide Aluko, SAN (BOA) Award.

Chisom’s outstanding academic performance also earned her recognition as the best student in subjects such as Law of Contracts and Law of Taxation, amongst others. This academic excellence further led to her receiving the MTN Scholarship Award in 2020.

Beyond her academic accomplishments, Chisom has developed strong advocacy and writing skills through active participation in various extra-curricular activities, both locally and internationally. She has competed in events such as the Foreign Direct Investment Moot Arbitration (2021 and 2022), the Manfred Lachs Space Competition, and the National ADR Competition.

Professionally, Chisom aspires to develop exceptional expertise in various areas of legal practice, particularly taxation. Her core strengths include a strong work ethic, exceptional multitasking abilities, and a commitment to excellence. She is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (AICMC) and a student member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). She is also an accomplished public speaker, having hosted numerous programs both in-person and virtually. A passionate advocate for all-around excellence, Chisom is deeply committed to her faith.

Chisom is Director of Programs at Emmanuel Onyeabor Tax Initiative (EOTI), where she generally directs programs planning/ execution activities for the organization and provides general program management services to the EOTI Executive Council.
